Brian, Dad had a lifelong enthusiasm for the outdoors and outdoor activities.
Many of my earliest memories involve him taking us all for adventures in the Great Outdoors such as climbing Snowdon, among other mountains; being taken canoeing and later sailing; sailing to Peel Island on Coniston for a Swallows and Amazons adventure.
I also remember him taking the time to make us outdoor clothing and equipment in order to ensure that we were safely and suitably kitted out for our adventures.  This was at a time when many didn’t take their families into the hills with them.
In later years he struggled to do as much as he would have liked but his passion remained.
